My wife felt the baby move for the first time last night! She said it was just a feint flutter where the baby is, like a little twitch of muscle.
I’m sure it must have been a special moment for her, that first sensation of knowing she’s carrying a child.
I can’t wait until it makes bigger movement that I can feel!

My wife visited the hospital yesterday for a sort of introductory session with them to prepare for the birth. Among the things that were discussed and arranged at yesterday’s meeting was our next ultrasound. We’re booked on for the 20-week one on April 18th. This is the BIG one, where we find out what gender our baby is!

Not long home from our first ultrasound!
I’d been looking forward to it for the past week and all day at work I couldn’t concentrate properly – lucky I had a day full of meetings and could kind of zone out and think of our baby.

Every morning and every night, my baby is among my first and last thoughts. I wonder at what they will look like, which attributes they will have of mine and which of their mother.
I guess at what their interests will be and I have imaginary conversations with them, at different stages in their life. It’s really quite sappy, but I can’t wait to have a child and a friend at the same time.
The anticipation has of course made me wonder how my father was when he learned I was on the way.

A lot of couples struggle with deciding when to tell people they are pregnant. Friends and family who’ve been in this boat before us had gone different ways. Some told only a couple of friends when they first found out then waited until 12 weeks (end of the first trimester) before going public. Others have told the world straight away.
